Open Science Day and National EOSC Tripartite Event: Pan-European Collaboration through EOSC, FAIR Research Data, and Data Infrastructure as Foundations for Scientific Advancement
You are invited to the Open Science Day and the national EOSC tripartite event, which will take place on December 3–4, 2024, at the Four Points by Sheraton Ljubljana (Mons) hotel. This year’s event will feature in-depth discussions on the future of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC), the new European EOSC Hub, the essential role of national open science infrastructure, and the main challenges and opportunities that open knowledge brings to modern science. The event is designed for researchers, innovation experts, representatives of research institutions and higher education, and the broader interested public. Be sure to register on time, as space is limited.
Participation is free, but registration is required.
The first day (December 3), dedicated to international topics, will be held in English from 9:00 to 17:40, hosting prominent speakers, including representatives from the European Commission, the EOSC Association, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, as well as leading experts in open science, copyright and intellectual property, and research infrastructure for FAIR research data.
The second day (December 4), focusing on national open science challenges, will be held in Slovenian from 9:00 to 15:30, covering the implementation of open science principles in public research organizations and the establishment of a Slovenian initiative for participation in the Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA).
The event is part of the Arnes annual conference Mreža znanja, which also includes a Citizen Science Day, Slovenian Supercomputing Network Days, and on the third day (December 5), an RDA workshop: Open Science Infrastructure – Status, Challenges, and Opportunities. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in discussions on future EOSC directions, learn about advanced open access models, and participate in a nationwide hackathon combining open science and supercomputing.
