Description
regular biweekly meeting
Participants: NC, CL, HK, AS, CS, DZ

Projects: Horizon 2020
Neal proposed a "Probe applications for cancer"/"Oncology probes" theme that would include PET probe, Beta probe and Compton probe. Common grounds would be post-processing, cancer application, probe concept (zooming in that gives information (resolution) one can't get otherwise).
Evaluation of the status for preparing a project (clinical need, benefits, technology solutions):
PET probe: Madeira legacy represents a firm footing for the new proposal. Valencia will explore contacts with a hospital in Valencia that could cover clinical part.
Beta probe: We have a firm footing regarding technical issues in the past work of the US partners. Need a surgical group (preferably from Europe, US groups available) that would be interested in the concept and willing to test it (e.g. on animals).
Compton probe: Neal has a contact that already has a CZT probe that could be used as a starting point. Simulations are also available from previous projects. No solution for occupancy and electronics problems yet. Need to find clinical partners. This direction can be formulated as a more investigative sub-task if sufficient justification/solutions can't be provided in time.
Potentially the same clinical group could be used for all three directions.

Valencia group elaborated on the Compton-PET idea. Slides available on the Indico page

A number of questions seemed to be unanswered (inner detector technology, high occupancy, proof of benefits, clinical need). We need to determine how much preliminary work is required to be able to formulate a proposal and whether it can be accomplished in time.

Report from Ljubljana (AS)
Andrej placed a module (with one GP7 chip and without a detector) into an MRI unit at JSI and took a series of MRI images. The module did not interfere with the MRI system (images without the module, with inactive module and with an active module were the same) and no noise increase was observed on the module.

For the future meetings staring time will be 14:30 CET/8:30 EST, except for the meeting on 22.5. that will start at 14:00 CET /8:00 EST.
Proposed date for a meeting with Christoph: Thursday 15.5. preferably 14:30 CET/8:30 EST
Date for a round-the-table meeting: Need to fix the theme of the proposal first.
By the next meeting we should gather existing preliminary work and define what else needs and can be done in time to formulate a proposal. (For both identified themes.)

Date & time of the next regular meeting: Thu. 22. 5. 2014 14:00 CET/8:00 EST
