We had a discussion of available options for a detector technology for fluorescence imaging proposal based on technical requirements given in Christoph's email today. Baseline approach would be to go with Si and switch to other detector materials such as CdTe if needed (scintillators don't seem a viable alternative). Timing resolution below 100 ps cannot be realistically achieved on a large scale with any detector material. Energy resolution around 2 keV could be achieved with Si. Strip detectors might be a viable option as we don't need spatial resolution (limited to line source), only segmentation (for count rate purposes). As for chips we could develop a new one (possibly a project partner or a "hidden partner") or use a standard one (material cost).
