Predavatelji / Instructors: Marko Drobnjak (Arnes)

Learning objectives: Planning the data life cycle, improving documentation, and preparing to establish a data storage and sharing plan within the organization.

Course content: The workshop supports companies, institutions, research groups, and other organizations in establishing an internal data culture. It covers the entire data management process: from planning data collection, standardization, and quality assurance to storage, protection of sensitive data, and preparation for sharing or external access to collected data. The workshop addresses issues of data ownership rules and the responsibilities of organizations and individuals when managing data. It presents participants with an organizational framework that includes the development of basic policies, the assignment of roles within the organization, and the establishment of effective data management processes. The workshop also presents a minimum set of steps to improve data handling and, consequently, the quality of the collected data (consistent naming, organization and standardization, preparation of metadata, preparation of a dictionary of variables, etc.).

Learning outcomes:

  • plan the data life cycle (from collection to storage),
  • define roles and rules (ownership, access, versions),
  • improve documentation (metadata, variable dictionary),
  • prepare a basic storage and sharing plan (including for project requirements).
