We are pleased to invite you to the AI and Data Privacy and Security Training, which will take place on May 5, 2026, from 09:00 to 14:00 at the Jožef Stefan Institute (Main Lecture Room), Ljubljana.
This one-day event will bring together students, researchers, and practitioners to explore trustworthy AI, decentralized personalization, and data privacy, combining a scientific tutorial, hands-on activities, and a policy discussion.
The scientific tutorial, “Knowledge Graph-Powered Decentralized Personalization,” will be delivered by:
- Prof. Oshani Seneviratne, Assistant Professor at RensseAI and Data Privacy and Security Training, laer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), leader of the BRAINS Lab, and MIT PhD under Tim Berners-Lee (inventor of WWW protocol). Her research focuses on decentralized AI, blockchain, knowledge graphs, and web technologies.
- Fernando Spadea, PhD student at RPI, working on PKG-driven recommender systems and frameworks such as FedTREK-LM, FLARKO, and RAG-FLARKO, with award-winning work at ISWC workshops.
Participants will explore personal knowledge graphs (PKGs), federated learning, decentralized AI architectures, and knowledge-graph-grounded RAG pipelines, including a hands-on session using RDFLib, Flower, and LangChain.
The event will conclude with a policy session on the EU AI Act, presented by Dr. Polona Pičman Štefančič from the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Slovenia.
This event is organized by the Horizon Europe ERA Chair project AutoLearn-SI and the SLAIF initiative.
